:D

Think it’s sorted, at least enough to get me home, but not sure what’s caused it. Looks like the chamber was way overfilled and had been for a while. Gasket is blistered too. :-k

Dodgy superglue fix from the local garage and at least the sausage sandwich was good.

Suppose I’d best learn carbs now, then…

PS: Well done getting it fixed and home again...

:thumbright: Cool, cheers!

It’s not home yet, so fingers crossed… There’s a car park full of people staring at it waiting for me to fire up, so I’m having a coffee and hoping the crowd gets bored in case I embarrass myself anymore. :D

Yes, float chamber overfilled, possibly a bit of crap in the needle and seat. A sharp whack with a screwdriver handle on the adjuster nut will often reset it. Don't buy cheap gaskets for Holleys, get the blue own brand as a minimum. Wipe both sides with vaseline before fitting and you will be able to reuse them, otherwise they stick like buggery and disassembly will Destroy them.

:thumbright: Good advice, cheers Blue.

Yes, think 100% was some crap was blocking it, blew through it and took a couple of goes to clear. If it gets me home I’ll look at rebuilding it and see what I can learn.

It’s home and no fuel pouring out. Unexpected adventure for the morning.

Rebuild kit ordered and we live to fight another day. :thumbright:

What carb cleaning solution do you recommend, then?

I just use commercial Brake cleaner solution, and buy in at least 5l cans; or better if you can buy in multiple packs as the cost per unit drops considerably.

We are also lucky enough to have an ultrasonic carb cleaner bath at work too.....

She’ll know somethings afoot if I go near the dishwasher.

Could have sworn I had a rebuild book somewhere, but buggered if I can find it. :-k

What’s the book you’d recommend, Pete? Kit is here, no instructions and I can’t find the little rebuild book I used to have. :-k

:thumbright: Ah, that might be the one I had. Little paperback? I wish I could figure out where I put it!

Might just order another, I think. Got another couple of old carbs I could do too and would be good to have.

Cheers for the offer, though.

https://www.vevor.co.uk/ultrasonic-clea ... &order=asc

range of ultrasonic cleaners here

i have one, use it for cleaning records, it works, second last photo usually has dimensions

no harm in cleaning half a thing then turning it 180* to do the other side
