Thanks Anton. Yes I think we've been relying on the black plastic/rubber 'stop' at the top corner of the quarter-light to stop the window, but I dont think it catches on anything else.

Stu says we have that piece on the passenger door so we should be able to copy that and make one for the driver's door.

Do you want some dimensions so you don't have to disturb the passenger door to get the other one out. Mine is on my desk so I can do you a drawing and PDF it to you today.

Thanks Steve, yes that sounds like the way to do it, as long as we can get the drill down the centre of the rivet

As a last resort you could always just use double sided tape on the back of the emblem and stick it on. The stuff used for sticking on modern car emblems and license plates.

Probably the safest way to do it.

Here's the bracket we do have Anton. Bit the worse for wear but Stu's already rubbed it down ready for paint.

He's found a spare shelf bracket that will do as a donor too, so once that's been modified and painted black, and hidden behind the door panel, no one will know


Yours looks like it's got some rubber on it tho... can you get a closer pic of that end so we can what's needed there? Thanks

Just use a large diameter o-ring or a few red postman elastic bands.

Weld the nuts on the back to save you trying to stop the nuts turning when you need to adjust the position.

Stu's been busy trying to get these little jobs sorted.

The missing window-stop bracket is now 'fabricated' and fitted. Pics are a bit dark but you get the gist. Fitted threaded inserts instead of having to weld nuts on (original on the left, shelf-bracket on the right).




No response from Legendary re how to fit the door panel badge so it was left to us

We decided to keep the rivet head intact so we could use a 'c' clip under the head to retain it:



Only got 2 clips so pass side panel is done. Need to find 2 more to finish the driver's side Hopefully get them next week tho.

Stu flattened/relieved the back side of the door card first, to give the clip more chance of fitting under the rivet head (the old socket & washer whacked with hammer trick )



Then pushed the rivet heads thru from the front and managed to slip the clip under the head. No pic of the finished article from the front but I'm assured it looks just like the original, without the saggy vinyl

Fantastic progress and some really clever problem solving going on there!

Liking the bracket too. Saves $20 purchasing, $25 postage, then another £20 duty and parcel farce charges

Thanks chaps, yes the d.i.y. brackets are all done & dusted, and door emblems are repainted (opted for new tins of humbrol rather than paying Year One's $215 per pair for new repros ) and refitted.





And I managed to spare a few hours on Monday to lend a hand and we finally got the console in once and for all
Bit of a fiddle getting it to sit right so the 'door' opens & closes without rubbing on the adjacent parts, but now it's all bolted & screwed down, it feels pretty sturdy, despite the flimsy-ness of the repro console moulding.

The console door still needs some attention tho as it doesnt 'pop up' as i believe it should, once the button is pressed and released, and also it doesnt stay up when fully open, as it doesnt open far enough to stop it falling closed again, but that can wait till we've got nothing better to do .

When I left, we still had to connect the console lights and fit the stainless carpet trim on the passenger side of the console but the main job to get on with next is to refit the steering column.
Then the drivers seat can go back in.
Then bench bleed the master cyl & refit.

etc etc







Still aiming for Brooklands but....
