HELP....Why is it that since i had the alternator rebuilt the rev counter does not work the way it should, if i turn on anything electrical the rev counter goes up, the more things i turn on the more the rev counter goes up, If I rev the engine the rev counter bounces all over the place it's not the rev counter as i have put a new one on. Anyone got any idea what it could be.

I always wonder about bad earths when things like that happen.
Also Autometer advised me that you can get interference on some systems that cause the tach to over-read.
In my case the motor was idling at 600 rpm but the tach registered 1200 rpm. A Snap-On RPM & stobe light proved the motor was doing 600rpm....
Good luck, this could be a hard one to track down....

Played around with it today, If I take the small wire off the back of the alternator the rev counter works fine, does this mean the alternator is at fault

Probably means the rev counter is not connected correctly?
