Slow indicators.

before I start pulling everything to pieces, why are my indicators verrry slow? Is it a bad earth or a poor unit or something else? The hazards by contrast are really fast

It will be the flasher unit mate, try swapping one for the other and see if that improves it, then get any 2 pin unit rated fr 21w x 2 and you will be good to go!

I realise i'm a bit late in on this one but my indicators are slow at idle and fast at higher revs, any ideas whether will this be flasher unit? i might add the headlights also become brighter at higher revs, Alex your comment suggesting that Neil trys "swapping one for the other" does this mean two flasher units are usually fitted, one for indicators and one for hazzards? would go and have a look and see if i've got two (flasher units!) myself but it freezing

Yes there are two, one near the column and one near the ashtray

Thanks for your reply Alex, do you think the flasher unit is causing the differences in indicator speed and will it be a readily available part? how about the variable intensity of the headlights

The lights will brighten slightly as the rpms build and the alternator works harder, if the indicators are really slow and the headlights very dim it may be the voltage reg?
Tey the flasher unit first, any modern euro 2 pin relay works, look for one that shows it runs 21wx2+5w that will be fine!

By the way i couldn't resist going to have a look for the two flasher units on the car in the cold, these mopars seem to get a hold of ya don't they!!

I`m glad this one came up again. I was just looking under the dash again at the weekend as I still hadn`t sorted this one out
The indicator relay (behind the ashtray) has two pins (looks like an OEM fitment located in its` original housing) and the hazards unit has three pins - so couldn`t swap them over.
Whilst checking out the hazards, I noticed that the fuse was flashing (sparking) and that the fuse area has melted a little and it gets very hot in action. A 20Amp fuse is fitted - is that correct?
Anyone any ideas on the cause and how to fix?

If the fuse is sparking it is most likely loose in its terminal, tighten them all up and try it again, 20a is the rating listed.
