18 or 23 spline?

Post by Chris&Adam »

Needing a new clutch for my roadrunner. Its got a 440 and an A-833 4speed manual. Before I order my new clutch, can the number of splines on the main drive pinion be determined by 'decoding' any of the cast or stamped numbers on the box or will I need to drop the box off?

Thanks

The casting number on the bellhousing is what you need.
Counting the number of teeth on the flywheel will back it up.
Have a look here, it should tell you what you have.

My 69 is a 11" 23 spline but the only sure way to tell is to drop the box

A torqueflight :thumbright:

I used Centreforce clutches in both 18 & 23 spline configuration. Light pedal throw; you have to shorten the travel to stop them "turning inside out". A block under the carpet will do this.

Not really up to it on the strip in my opinion.........and expensive.
