Jims '65 Mustang Fastback
Here's a few pics of what's happening with my 65 Mustang Fastback that is coming together at Richard Ward's shop. - Briefly:
The Engine Factory in New Jersey built the EFI 350hp 302ci, with front sump and dipstick location to suit installation in an early Mustang. I could have ordered more powerful strokers etc, but I reckon 350hp is just right for this 65.
Tremec T5 Heavy Duty 5 speed manual gearbox supplied by Summit Racing.
Headers and 2.5” exhaust supplied by Summit Racing.
The rear axle is a nodular iron 9" Ford from Currie Enterprises with 3.25 gears. (A bit over the top for a little Mustang, but who cares.)
Brakes are Wilwood drilled and slotted discs all round.
Suspension is Total Control coil over shock.
15 x 7 polished Torquethrust wheels with Pirelli tyres.
Rack and Pinion power steering is from Randalls Racks
Vintage Air supplied the Air Conditioning system.
The interior is stock black, all new, - includes a repro 'stock- appearing' Mustang radio – with European frequencies, 250 watts, and iPod connection, from Vintage Vibes.
I bought the car from Budgie back in February. It came in from Texas. It was a sad Mustang. Since then everything except the bare shell has been junked. Speaking of the shell, - this 65 is totally rust free. It has the best bodyshell I have ever seen.
I hope to drive this car a lot more than my other cars, - hence the Air-Con and Cruise Control.
It will be ready for the spring. I can't wait.

Thanks guys. I hope it does drive like a dream.
There is so much going into this car with the intention of making it a very driveable classic. I don't need just another Sunny Sunday driver. My Mopars are big and noisy, and let's face it:- not that nice to drive in todays terms.
So, this Mustang will be a much better car to drive, with modern - fuel injection, electrics, brakes, steering, suspension, and more.
