Morgs, if it's not too late (looks like it's not bolted down yet), paint your valley pan gasket - they go rusty so quickly and will make all your hard work on the other parts look poo in no time at all.

Unless you already knew that, in which case just ignore me...

Some of us call it a turkey tray, but that would be equally as silly.

Good work Morgan, coming along nicely!
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Couple more pics following an evening of surgery with dr.Blue.

Engine/box/headers in. (Awaiting a couple of bolts, but in). Next job is to make a list of all the froo-froo jobs that need to go on to get this thing running (wiring, plumbing, pipes etc etc).

Few fuel pipes short, need some trans cooler pipes made etc etc. Will make th list today. Slow but sure.

Hoping for Harpenden ! (Nats ambitious)

Edit - PS - Robtwin. Inlet manifold gunged and bolted. (Therefore removal will break seal). Will get gaskets pre carb and valley-pan. Not forgotten !

A day off work to try and make some serious headway...
Well - making progress but a bit down in the dumps at the mo. I try hard but sometimes it just doesnt come together as fast as you'd like.

On the upside, got alternator bolted on, engine wiring harness labelled and ready to go, header bolted in , engine mounts finished (Took me an hour to do 1 bolt - thats how tight it was ! )

On the downside I have discovered the following from small blocks to big blocks.

Power steering pump is different - despite having new brackets it just doesnt fit. Seems they fitted multiple types :(. Fan spacers wrong, top/bottom hoses for rad wrong, fuel pipe short, heater hose short, throttle cable mount wrong, fuel pump fittings wrong, carb fittings wrong etc etc etc...
All small stuff I realize to you experienced bods but it gets a bit annoying when everything you start ends in no job completed just another list of 'parts needed' ! I think you need a shed full of adhoc bits, brackets, ancills and nots/bolts before starting this sort of thing. It has surprised me how many bits are different.

Anyway, back onto good news. The missing bits for the most part I have found, the biggy seems to be the power steering pump.

Is this something I am likely to find in a 'wanted' ad ? Anyone...?

Anyhow, heres a couple of pics of my 'Dodge Charger still life project'. This is the power steering pump that has driven me to distraction.

Morgan,

Mine was the same. I was continually taking bits down to my mate who works in a machine shop. Altering brackets, fabricating new, sourcing long bolts, etc. I made spacers to space out the fan and/or the bottom pulley. I trial bolted all the ancillaries before fitting the motor in the car. It's easy to fart around with it when it's on an engine stand, not so easy in the car. Take your time and keep your patience, it'll be worth it... :thumbright:

8-) just keep plugging away, you've broke its back now, get those little annoying jobs out of the way, always keep a cold one close by when it gets you down, then hit it hard on the next shift :thumbright:

The pump you have is the same as fitted by the factory to my 440 Challenger.

It is probably the bracket you need to change.
