This will probably get deleted!!

but time for a rant!! i went to a concert in Manchester and i have just got back in.I bought the tickets in Bolton and they told me the last train back from Manchester to Bolton was 23.30

the guy who sold me the tickets in the afternoon at Bolton train station had a face like a smacked arse the miserable git
I got to the station at 22.50 thinking i had ample time, and i was told there were no trains to Bolton.

they told me to get a train to Salford and then i may be able to get one from there.I got to Salford only to be informed that there were no more trains!!! what a place to be stuck in on a Satuarday Night its like a real life Shameless!

and about £30/£40 in a taxi home

I managed to get the last train to Atherton Manchester(closer to Bolton than Salford) walked for an hour and a half with no success fl aging down a Black Cab.Got to a Garage in Westhoughton and Managed to get a Taxi From there to home thankfully

but £10 more than i was planning to spend, and an extra two hours.
So no wonder people drink drive etc!! next time i will go in my car its far easy-er!! (but i wont drink

)
So what is the point of public transport? its the same in the morning for work! i used to start at 5am and the first bus is not until 6.30 am

most working class blokes who work early start at 6AM and have no choice but to make there own way in.So i sick of these do gooder politicians taxing me to use my car! and telling me i can use public transport instead when in fact i can not! they should live in the real world! the hard working class are the ones that get punished and pay the tax!!!
Before they preach they should sort out public transport, and also realize we don't all have fantastic 9 to 5 jobs with expenses paid! so have no choice but to use a car!
This country and taxes make me sick!!!!

Last week Carole's train was delayed by 20 minutes. First delay in 8 months, boy did she moan! And they are cheaper than the Tube (which was delayed 3 in 5 days, at the least.....)
All the best!

Couldnt agree more Tony,i live 10 miles from work id have to get 2 Buses, costing roughly £12 return and still get to work late cos they dont start running early enough round here. The options are sit on a smelly old bus clattering along, uncomfortable, late or go in my van in a nice comfy chair, listening to a Radio station i want to, with a nice heating and ventalation system i can use myself.Go on the bus costs for the ticket ,then the hours lost in wages. Rant over.

how true

...another funny thing i have found is it can often be the case that it works out cheaper to go somewhere using a V8 car rather than using the train.

know what you mean T, we live 4 miles out of town and 3 mins walk from a train station, however because of the infrequency of trains that actually stop at my local station it can take us hours to get into Manchester, usually as our timing doesn’t fit in with the trains we end up using the car. on a Sunday no trains stop at all
fear not though, they were banging on the other week on the news that following the completion of the engineering works at Rugby, there is now a train from Manchester to London every 20 mins, woo hoo, absolutely no flinkin use what-so-ever to the vast proportion of Mancunians and the population of the wider conurbation like your good self
admittedly we are also 20 mins walk from a tram station which is a much better service, still stops at midnight though

I used to get that Simon when i lived in Gatley, loads of trains to the Airport 24 hours a day but hardly any stoped at Gatley, yet most stoped at the next stop in Heald Green. So who decided Heald Green was more important than Gatley?
Where i live now they have just changed the trains

it used to go to Manchester/Stockport/Buxton.
Perfect for going to my Mum and Dads in Hazel Grove near Buxton,or for getting home after droping my Car of at Dave Madders for work in Cheadle.
Now the Train goes to Manchester Victoria only

why? the journey time now From my local station to Hazel grove is 2hours 10 mins(honest!)30 miles max!! i can do it in the car without breaking any speed limits and no traffic in 45 mins
What a waste of time!!! there are people in my area that used that train to commute to Stockport for work, now they are in the Poo and very upset.
Why do they always spoil a good thing?
