I'm using the Val for daily duties and am restricted on what mods I can make. Today I was changing the oil and filter and then decided to check the breaker gap in the dizzy (Still collecting parts for the electronic upgrade) Went to turn it over on the damper bolt.....What the!!! No damper bolt. Now I'd actually noticed it missing it was bound to fly off and ruin my day (Probably on the way home from work rather than going!!) Frantic calls to a Hemi owning friend (coincidentally at Queensland Raceway to see Michael and the Awesome Biante Charger running in a support race for the V8 SuperCars that are there this weekend.) Yeah, he had a few spares. Did a bit of digging in the manual and online......turns out there was never one there in the first place! The damper is a press fit and if you find a bolted on one it is an aftermarket mod!!!! Asked around on how you turn the crank......Pull on the fan belt whilst rotating the fan....Technical, Huh! Also used Google to covert the 8.8 pints to Litres....just under 4l. Nowhere near the dipstick, ended up putting the 5L can in, all ok. Then I realised Google had defaulted to US pints! D'oh. Imp pints was near 5L!!!! (Dear Blue, I have sinned and added a head unit, 6" and 6x9" speakers on a custom shelf to me car....gotta have sounds!!)

interference fit with sticky locktite on all but the cars expected to rev past redline i.e RTs
aftermarket are sometimes a bit looser (or are being attached to cranks that have had numerous pulled off an on so need a bit of dressing to remove score marks )so always come with a bolt

they were also a bit slap happy when it came to

1) getting the full line in the right place on the dipstick (or it changed at some point and you don't know if you have the right one)
2) getting the dipstick tube the correct length (a Chrysler feature)
3) brazing on the stop/cover on the dipstick (lazy or it wore out)

either way the pickup is well low in the sump so provided you go in a straight line and don't accelerate and stop too little oil is not a problem

now if can turn it over on the fan both ways great

some just won't and only turn over backwards. Major pain in the ass and a wrong thing according to the manual and its easy to loose a finger tip if you pull on the belt as well.

old fan belt done up extra tight and wind it over on the alternator.....risky to alternator bearings and water pump ceramic seal but works.
