Late 70s my Boss had a Firenza built to rally spec (he used to rally at weekends) and knowing my interest in American muscle he used to take me out in it and try to scare the poo out of me.
The Vauxhall/Opel Manta was a pretty good car too. You could easily fit a chevy V8 in those too and they were monster.

anyone remember this thunder saloon manta from the early 90's, I saw it brands hatch a few week ago first time out in 17 yrs, 383 chevy with fancy headers that bring the exhuast up forwards over the engine before down & under it

Yep, Gerry Marshall raced the Stars and Stripes Manta in the 1989 Thundersaloon championship. Back then it had a 6.7 litre Pontiac engine I believe.

I remember Gerry Marshall driving, not sure about the Pontiac motor, not that I'm doubting about the motor, just can't remember

Ah, they were the days. All my money went on insurance for mine! That was without a Chevy V8 too.
