'72 Challenger Restoration What a find !!

Post by AllKiller »

Two years ago lying in a field, I found this 72 Challenger, Really it had been stood up there for about 10 years not moving just disappearing into the ground,
And get this a 440 - 6 pak motor complete but in bits 727 auto and 4.10s in the rear,
I could not believe it and only about 2 miles from where i live, My friend was looking for just such a car so,
After much negotiating we purchased the car, my mate John Challis, ( member) buying it and took on the momnumental task of repairing her, the owner Andy used to race her and was going to restore her, YEAH RIGHT !
The car had tickets for 11.8s in the centre console so we were quite happy with that, and it was just as the car was left outside to die.
NO CHANCE.
CHECK OUT the pics and see for yourself
We fitted the engine and box this afternoon, built by Dave Billadeux at Brighouse Speed, He said it fired up and ran like a dream on the Standing for 10 year six pak that we gave new Vacuum actuators and pipe work and a good clean. Trying to finish her of for the Nats all being well
Enjoy

I bet they are out there I have found 3 thats 3 now, one of the others was the 67 barracuda conv that I sold to Jiggy in Surrey Muscle now in USA I think been standing 17 years in a barn in Richmond London, just through a chat with a bloke at work about American cars.

The other was a 71 barracuda s / six 3 speed in lovely cond been standing 8 years, unwanted gift to a son, Bloke was a truck driver a work down from Leeds where the car was stored.
Just keep asking and Boring people about Yanks

the original hood was so so rotten it almost snapped in half when we opened the hood, it went in the bin minus the inserts, it was a nasty mix of scoops and an original bonnet, it was only 2 parts actually stock r/t hood and a 70s pro stock, aka Sox n Martin sytle scoop
