You know how it go's Clivey, back in the early 70s these where a missile ........... well certainly seemed likt it compared to the useal Anglia 105e or a Mini 998 
............the funny thing is that back then the Mk1 Lotus Cortina was more affordable cuz it was older and that was what we ran, even E'Type's and Sunbeam Tigers where for now't, I had em all but the Mk1 was the boy until the 3 litre Capri came along, my pal actually swapped his 66 4.2 E'type for an almost new 3 litre Capri GT ..........great times

..............they put out around 125hp in standard form, very easy to pull 150hp out. They are fairly quick, but it's not all about HP, the noise they make is great and they are real chuckable, the whole package is just great, you have to drive one to know what I mean. A nice built steel motor will make a reliable 175+hp @ 8000rpm............THEN, they really are plenty of fun

Looking at them makes me kinda wish I never got rid of my 1600E for such silly money now.
£160 sovs due to being unused and having two suspect outer wings (everything else including the extra factory metal around the struts (extra inner top plate and flitch panel) was sound).
Still, what's done is done, and afforded me space for an E-Body!
That MKII looks great in silver with the original(?) Dunlop alloys.

The Dunlops are period alloys of course and I fitted these for some contrast against the silver, they're also one of me favorites too.
The OE parts would of been 5.1/5 J steels with center caps.
I reckon all you Essex boys have got the majority of classic "Dagenham Dustbins" ..............my pal sold a 1600E in "aubergine" for 16 clap

Blimey Budge - Can't be many of those shells left- at least not in 2 door wiith the subframe connectors. Still got some Bits & bobs left from when I sold mine with Vulcan Heads. That green stripe was always a yuck colour you've got it spot on though - Ermine white and was it Goodwood green? Looks all very correct.
