Cougars and Cobras
Well i did not want to spoil the lads 69 XR7 thread in the workshop and Cougars seem to be the flavor of the month at the Moment thanks to Guy with the 70 and the Cornish crowd with the 69 recently sold and now Malc has one to sell.
So thought i would post here some Cougars i know of.
Here is the Nice 69 XR7 390 that Gareth from Manchester owned.HE also had a 69 Eliminator, and also owned a real 69 Boss 302 that needed a resto(see pic) the BOSS 302 stuff ended up on his rock solid 69.We tried to tempt him into a rebody and know one would have known! but Gareth was to honest to do that i got offered the Eliminator and the BOSS 302 Shell(minus the motor) for 6K! in about 07 lucky for him i did not take him up on the offer and he swapped them for a nice Red 58 Plymouth Fury(like Christine)
His Eliminator was 0nly 10 Reg numbers away from my 69 Cobra(see pics)
There is a real 70 BOSS 302 that turns up at the Nats (see pics) also a guy owned a first Gen Cougar near me when i was at school Black with Red interiour(see pic) that car is still around and one thing that got me into liking yanks.I fulfilled my dream and owned a 68 XR7 as you know (see pic)

As a kid I always loved those cars, our neighbor had a convertible,
the look of it going down the street it had alot of class but yet a very sporty/muscle look
Dodge used the Cougar (as well as other cars), I have an old pic somewhere in a book ,and they show the engineers measuring the belt line from the Cougar and the clay model of the challenger is right next to it .
Cougars are rare ,parts are even more difficult to find little trim parts ,when ever I see one I usually try to talk to the owner ,and see how long they have had the car........I just dont see them that much, like Torinos too RARE

I had 67 351 Cougar, sold it to buy my first mopar, 70 Challenger 318, beautiful car but a lot slower than the Cougar, also had a 289 XR7, i fitted Keystone klassics on the back and magnum 500's on the front, which came off my mate's 68 Charger.
I always prefered mopars to other brands, even then.
Mick
