Glad the seats finally fitted and you find them comfortable, they did me two trips to Le Mans 800 miles each trip, plus all the other running about in it.
Good times too :thumbright:

Great stuff Dave, getting the times down . A RWYB meeting would be a better bet to get more runs in. Sorry I couldn't get to the Pod, maybe next year. Chris

Well its been slow progress on the motor due to various factors. But, this week we have been able to open up the 318 so we can have a look and see what the internals look like. Great news its in good condition for a 75 block and is on standard bore.

So I can now start ordering parts. :woohoo:

Well......I could if they had any in the US. #-o

Spoke to Hughes this week and found that they are short on Pistons, lifters and the rocker assembly. No option but to order and wait. Not in any rush, but would like it on the road for next spring. Good thing is it's a spare engine so the car can still be used while all this is going on.

So it's back on hold until Diamond send some pistons through to Hughes. Without these no point in having the block machined and bore taken out by 30 thou.

As you can see in the above pics, some cleaning to do with the dremel, especially around the valley.

One of my big decisions over the last 4 months was what to do regards parts selection. I know I want 400HP and over 400ft lbs TQ, but many ways in which to get that.
Ideally want low 12s in the 1/4 but for it to still be street friendly.

Well this is what I've settled on after lots of conversations with knowledgeable people and guys in the US.

Engine Build: 318 taken out to 390
Scat cast crank (4") and rods.
ARP everything on the bolts.
Diamond forged pistons (16.7cc) at 3.940"
Eddy RPM 60779 Cylinder heads (63cc standard) c/w felpro 1008 head gaskets (0.039 squish).
Hughes Cam - Solid flat tappet - HUG STL4246AS-8 and lifters
I've calculated 9.9:1 SCR at 0 deck Low 8's DCR

Hughes 1.5 Rocker assembly
750 Mech carb (holley or brawler)
1" phenolic spacer
Eddy RPM Air Gap Intake
Eddy Fuel pump (mech)
Melling HV oil pump and drive
Milodon sump
Howard's timing set and tensioner
Ali water pump.
Dougs Headers

MSD pro billet Dizzy and Digital 6AL.

Windage tray or scraper still to be decided on.

Dave, if you want to open up the oil galleries I have the required drill and reamers. Not strictly needed but I thought it was cheap insurance. Grinding out the main cap to oil pump join is also a good idea.

I don’t rate windage trays, Teflon crank scraper is my choice, had the other style on my 360.

Yes it was exactly what I'd hoped for when it was opened Stu. A great basis for some tyre smoke.... :occasion5:
