Thanks Guy for the info, I will have another look at their site.

Interesting about your experience Paolo, glad you got it sorted but it's so annoying when that happens which is too often with aftermarket stuff.

Was thinking of an SSBC kit to change from my non assited drums brakes.

This one:

http://ssbrakes.com/i-10092523-disc-bra ... 156-1.html

Now I'm not so sure!

I need a kit to suit my 15" steel wheels.

This is another option:

Looks ok, but a bit unknown.

Any comments? Baer do sets but they don't seem to suit small wheels?

I'm not afraid of spending much more than that, I want the best quality and performance without going to large after market wheels.

As Pete said, keep it Mopar 11.75" rotors, large single calipers, large sliding carriers. OK for 15" wheels.

all I can say is that I've seen enough threads on other forums to suggest my experience of SSBC wasn't unique. After I posted that I ended up changing the master cylinder and adding a booster, so by the time I got them working to a decent standard I had spent £1300 or more, a great deal of time, and had a lot of journeys that were a lot scarier than they would have been with decent brakes!

there seem to be a lot more options based on the factory parts now than there were when I was looking, and that's what I'd look at - for my Barracuda I've tracked down an original disc set up, not aftermarket.

I've had bad experience with some american tuners for other cars like my Audi quattro a few years ago.

I'm not saying they're all the same, plenty of reputable companies, but they seemed to think nothing of making wildly optimistic claims and saying that things would fit everything with no issue at all, or delivery times were way out.

I like to buy from the UK wherever I can and I've no doubt a local solution can be found, but it's always the time and hassle factor inst it :)

I have sent the "Ram Man" a message with details asking him to recommend what he can to me in terms of oem parts.

Very interesting this, I like Ram man, let us know what he says.

I still have (HD) drums which as he says are good for at least 1 hit! The way to go must be discs on the road, but the amount of times used on the 1/4 it maybe disappointing especially with no booster for the disc set up??

I will mail Ram man

Not sure if Duncan ran the 9.40 on them but I imagine that they pulled up OK from a high "10"...

I think the big (12" ish..) Mopar conversion and manual master cylinder is the best combo for stopping / feel / weight / price ....

This is the ram man's comprehensive answer to my question of what he can offer/recommend for my belvedere (after specifying what it has and what I would like):

"That is our specialty...u should watch some videos... on the website
All new correct factory components .around 800.00"

Not really that helpful, just a list of what he recommends/what I would get for my money would be a start, or a couple of options.

I was hoping that as he "knows his stuff" he could do this and I could say yes ok and then order.

I asked him what to use, he says go for the standard '76 ones, plane rotor not slotted as I just wanted them for 1/4 mile.

No details of master cylinder or part numbers or pricing.

Not really sure how to go, I really want a complete package with prices.
