Post by vipergts »

OK
I'm about to order my 15" Wheel Vintiques and need some some help.

10's up back but what do I need up front 7's???

Also tyres, the car is low will I get away with 295/50 up back and what will I need fronts?

Get under with a tape measure. ;)

I think you will find a 275 is as big as you will get under there. But it depends on the wheel width, offset, and ride height.

controversial but I’m not mad about the fatty & thiny look, wheels Torq Thrust D 8.5” x 15” backspace 3.75” all round, tyres 275/60 x 15 at the back & 245/60 x 15 up front :thumbright:

I hope 295 x 50 fit as I've snagged a brand new set for my Roadrunner.

Backspace is key.
This is why I have 8.5" rear wheels on the Coronet ;)

Think '73 wheel wells are even bigger, they're certainly wider!

Your 70 looks great.

Maybe I'll go for 8's up front

I see those 295 50's fit but I don't think they will when as low as mine so maybe 275/60

I haven't a clue what the offsets are etc....might be a bit of trial and error

Backspace on mine are 5 1/2" on the 10" back wheels and I think it's 4" on the 7" fronts. You have to get it right on the back because 10" wheels fill the wheel well. I think Chargers can get away with 5" backspace on the back because the arches are a little wider than they are on the Road Runner.

295s might fit if the wheel is too narrow such as an 8 inch wheel. They did (just) on my challenger but I decided to fit the correct size wheels for the tyre and so went to 10 inch wide. However that also meant having to re-locate the rear springs a little.

The ideal for mine is 10's with 295/50 and a 5" BS BUT I'm not sure that the tyres wont foul the wing?

picking up on Dave's point. I was going to fit 295 x 50 series on a 8" rim.
Bad fit? I thought that lower profile tyres can accept narrower rims.

8" rims are too wide on the front. Tyres will rub the frame rail.

Also puts lots of load on a suspension that was designed in the main for narrow 14" tyres made of nylon................

I thought 8's up front with a 4.25-4.5 BS were OK
