Not KYB!
Wondering if anyone stocks good quality shox for our cars. Having wandered down the road in barge like fashion I need to make some adjustments.
Looking to buy today as I want a better quality ride to the Nats.

Already have replacement bushings (not completely, but getting there) so I'm on that case too.

QA1 adjustable shocks. But I got mine from Summit.

They are a bit "harsh" and are not adjustable.

Spax uk do a range of adjustable at les than a ton each and they lost my car.
Have to wait for delivery, but really wanted something for the Nats.

Ivor after driving my Grand National with good suspension and handling I'd like just a taste of that back, even if I'll never go as fast agiain

Sorry to jump in Miles but What is the issue with KYB.

I've got 4x Adjust a Shock ready to go on the Dart......Too stiff, to soft or break after a week?????

QA1's seem to have the biggest following in the states.....admittedly on A bodys...........but should think it is the same for most, unless you go mega $$$.

Dave KYB are ok, had 'em before, but i want adjustables. id rather pay a bit more and get it right first time. Ive also asked Chris at WASP to get me new leaf springs to go with it, not Mopar Superstock as they have had bad quality reviews in recent times.

KYB are good for the price. But in reality you pay for what you get.

They are a stiff shock so work well on heavy cars that ideally need stiffer suspension. But they are not brilliant going over potholes.

Much like the stock suspension on my Corvette.
My Corvette handles great as it has the stiffer Z51/Z06 suspension. But on a street with a lot of repairs and pot holes it does not feel great. It is very harsh.
The upgrade for the shocks is to fit better quality Bilstein gas shocks.
They offer exactly the same suspension rates but just do it a bit better so the car feels smoother on uneven road surfaces. If I still have the car at Christmas I think I will make those shocks my pressy.

On my old Challenger I originally fitted KYB shocks and used them for years. Again, the car handled great but I was glad the seat was bouncy to absorb the bumps.
I fitted QA1 shocks and without changing the rates very much away from the level of stiffness I had with the KYBs, I found I had a much nicer ride quality.

Drew uses QA1s on his Challenger with otherwise stock suspension and he sometimes drive it hard on track circuits. They have a large range of adjustability. The more expensive ones double adjustable.

Just purchased Spax adjustables.
After a drive out today I need them!

Nothing wromg with my KYBs ....for the 500 miles a year and Drag racing they are fine, unless you are going to Brands for the weekend

Spax will make you complete one offs for anything. i had some special offset ones made for the S800 and sent a Datsun front strut to have inserts made. they didn't cost anymore than an off the shelf item.

you can specify any valving you want, length,what ends you require, make coil-over versions, anything.

my S800 has uprated front torsion bars and coil-over front shocks. it may not need an antiroll bar

Id just like my car to handle. KYBs are fine. I'll get the Spax and see how different it is. All my local roads are twisty and it might be fun going round corners as the drag strips are too far away for any regular use.
