Its really simple Jim they give me lots of £££ and I go up.

I come down and buy parts for my car

Free climbing is illegal in the uk but does slow you down.

Normaly the problem is with quality of the towers in most African locations

Also makes for good fun on jack rig when there floating in ruff weather.

Its all in a safe controlled environment is fine

After about 100meter it would not matter if it 100m or 400m

Never been more than 250m that was quite plenty

Toooooooo Scarey , cant see point in 1st climber wearing a hard hat lol

You guys ever seen Fred Dibnah in his first ever series, climbing the old
stand alone factory Chimneys, goes so far , hauls a Ladder section up ,lashes it to the Chimney and repeats it till at the top

Builds a platform few feet from the top, to get on it he has to lean backwards to grab the platform then kicks his legs to swing up.

When he wants to take a break climbing these monster chimneys, he moves to side of ladder hooks a arm around the ladder edge, threads a leg through back of ladder and locks it onto a rung, then has a cigarette, lol

No safety rope or clips, just a homemade thick woolly jumper for the cold and a flat cap......bound to be a you tube of it .

Bloody Hell going up a 100 Foot rigging ladder above a stage is scary enough,
That is mental
and you have less and less room as you go up.

its incredible how your grip tightens and your awareness of attachment increases as you get higher too.

I know its Navajo Indians have no fear of heights, they used those guys a lot in the 20/30's building the New York Skyline

I once had a go at climbing one of those ladders, they were topping a chimney at some brickworks near Bedford, we had seen them put the ladders up like Fred, then haul up the scaffolding to make the platform. Me & my mate/boss bet each other we couldn't make it to the top in our tea break, we got over halfway (probably 150ft) then it started to pee it down with rain so we bottled out! It was more scary coming back down an old wooden ladder that was getting slipperier with every passing minute.
