Thanks dude :thumbright:

I don't think you ever say "that's it ,I've finished it "
I find that I always want to change things, or try something different.
I just can't stop modifying stuff
If the good lord had wanted things to remain unmodified he would not have let us invent hacksaws and grinders !! :D

Trouble is Pete, I'm scared to drive it until I've done all I can to stop it rusting,
Cavity wax every joint , lap and crevice, then I havn't decided what to put on the floor pans, or in the sills, door bottoms ect, Waxoyl ,or Dinotrol products yet.
Importing from Arizona/Nevada is defiantly the way to go.
Just got to keep it mint, now its here, in our not quite so dry climate

Take it she doesnt have factory underseal option Johnny? Doesnt look like it and its a dry state car. Mine both have factory underseal so I use hammerite underseal with added waxoil in black and in spray cans. It goes on nice when cans warmed in warm water, just like the factory finish. You can get it in clear finish....

My only comment would be that, lovely as it is, its for using and enjoying. You obviously look after her so shes never likely to rot away from under you. I use my Polara all year round, I just dont go out in slush or heavy salt days. Rest of the time I just use her as Ma Mopar intended.... :thumbright:

Steve, Does have the factory underseal, but not every where. probally 90 % covered , chassis rails, floors under arches ect, just none in some places.

I do need to get out of this "If I use it it will go rusty "mental thing though

Each to their own mate but you are a long time dead and our cars will probably out live us whether we use them or not....

I masked tbe sill edges, wheel well edges etc, wrapped exhausts in newspaper and used 6 cans of the underseal/ waxoil mix and just sprayed away till everything was evenly coated. The factory/ dealers werent too careful when they applied it but mine looks really tidy as I took my time with it. Doesnt matter if it gets wet etc,

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

This is what I used....I didnt pay that much so shop around as it isnt cheap!! You can buy big tins with an applicator gun. Secret with it is to brush any loose stuff off the bottom, make sure its all nice and dry, then stand the cans in a basin of warm water till you can hear the sealant sloshing around in the can. Make sure you keep the nozzle cleared regularly as it clogs easily and affects the spray pattern. I just wash them in a bit of petrol and dry on a cloth. It can be overcoated and touched up as well. 6 cans did my whole car

cheers Steve

After about 6 -8 weeks waiting for the engineering guy to machine my new super strength 8 3/4 half shafts, I got the phone call today to say they are done, that is machined down at the hub end , to take the Dana seals & bearings. And keep the correct measurements to use all the disc/ calliper combo from the Dana 44HD axle
I can now think about getting on with my axle build.
I will post pics when I start again.

Started on Dana 44HD axle again

Well, I picked up the half shafts from the machine shop. They had a bit of trouble turning them down, nearly had to resort to grinding, as they are quite hard.

Old Dana 44HD shafts and new cut to length Mopar 8 3/4 shafts. Note bearing ends different.

New Mopar shafts machined to take the Dana Bearings/seals.

Cutting the shafts. I didn't have access to a Grit wheel chop saw.
I had to improvise with a vice , a piece of tube , some visegrips, some masking tape. and a 9 in angle grinder, with a cutting blade.

Finished shafts, ready for the bearings an seal to be pressed on.

How come you reduced the splines on the halfshafts, are you shortening the axle?

Cheers

Yes Jon,
If you look back erlier in this thread, you will see that I had to shorten it by 3 + inches each side.
But they were "cut to length shafts anyway "

It's been over a month since I did any work on the Hybrid Dana 44HD axle build.

After work today I pressed on the Dana 44HD non adjustable taper roller bearings on to the Hybrid Mopar 8 3/4 axles half shafts.
