You can't have too much power, only a lack of traction!

Not that I particularly care who was the first....but it would've had to have been in 1990 or before ;)

Would have been around '89 IIRC, I was racing the Demon in the same class.

No Les it was the Custom Car Wynns Street Challenge IIRC there were just 2 classes street tyres & slicks, dial your own index, normal breakout rules. I couldn't get the hang of it lol, just wanted to go faster all the time.

I was in the wynn's pro street challenge back in 88 in my GTX came 5th and I drove it there and back for all 8 rounds, just used to drop the exhaust and take the air filter off and race 12.8 all day long.

Yeah, used to do that myself in the early 80's in Street Class Jim, ended up trailoring it though in the end, bit of a pain with the gears after a few years. The Peach Brothers with their Black Roadrunner used to change their diff as well. Those were the days when a 12 sec motor was a quick car.

I did most rounds of the challenge, ran a best of 11.85 on street tyres 125 shot of NOS with only 9.0/1 compression & a .484 csm. Drove to the track dropped the mufflers, raced & drove home. Once on open headers after it passed with rain & I didn't want to get soaked putting the exhaust back on!

I ran 10.41 at 130mph with a iron headed 440 in Cooky's Dodge but had the wrong gears and the tyres were too big, not sure on the weight, but wasn't a super lightweight car
