Hi Guys, can anyone give me a rough idea what I should expect to pay for a full respray? It's on my 69 SuperBee, panels are all solid so will be the prep and paint. I want the full works not some cheap job but have no idea on cost.

For a pukka job I would budget for 3 to 5 grand, car needs to be well stripped down to do it properly, down to a bare shell if you really want to get it right.

That's not as bad as I was expecting. I do want it done properly, no point giving it a rough cheap job.

A lot depends on Prep work and how much you want to do to reduce costs.

I would be a very happy man to get a quality re-spray on a "B" body for 5 grand these days given the cost of materials and labour.

Car will really need to be stripped of all removable panels,doors dismantled,glass out,so much can be done diy to save a bit.
I'd guess min £3K to skies the limit depending how good you want it. Labour is not cheap and hours of block sanding and such like don't come cheap unless you can do it to a good enough standard and present the car to the bodyshop in primer so he has the minimum to do.

I'm quite handy so can get a fair amount done myself. I have a friend who's dad has restored cars for the movies and recently finished a Mustang Boss. I'm thinking he's going to be at the higher end of things.

When I had the satellite done a few years back they wouldn't entertain not doing the prep work as they have their name on the end product.

I think it comes down to what you want (standard) and what you can negotiate....

Very true, Owners prepwork and a Bodyshops prepwork are 2 diff things, they would prob have to re do the prepwork , be just as well leaving it all to the Bodyshop.

That all makes sense, in my line of work customers try and carry out their own repairs that never work then it makes my job harder putting their mess right.. Think I'll leave the prep to the pros!
