As soon as I saw the weather conditions I knew Andy was going to struggle here. The weather couldn't have been worse for him.

Hope they got him out of the gravel without any damage to the car.

Talk about the odds being against you !
Rain and oil down , with a rwd V8 under your foot ........
Great viewing.
Gutted for you Andy. How the hell you did as good as you did in those conditions I'll never know !!
Really hope you caught this race on you're in board camera ?
Cheers for the heads up.

Yep, ideal weather for a 4WD Subaru, if it had been dry I reckon Andy would have been miles ahead. Thought he did really well under the conditions, and loved seeing the Falcon dicing with the Subaru. Thanks for the entertainment Andy. :thumbright:

Hi all cheers for your comments,
Before the event weather forecast was minor showers on sat morning only, so only took 6 wet tyres.....bad move.
I never used a slick tyre all weekend
Only 14 cars turned up but 11 of them where all potent multiple race winning cars inc 2 other v8 supercars
Qualified on pole sat morning on a wet track, well happy to be in fornt of the 4wd cars
Race 1 was on a drying track, went great for the first few laps then overheated the rear tyres causing the rear of the car to be constantly moving about, a bit of a misshap meant I lost the lead, but got it back towards end of the race
race1

well happy to win first race of the season and even move happy to beat the fastest laps of the preceding britcar race winning car a ferrari 458 driven by paid proffessonal driver.
Rain was now forecast for sunday & I only had 2 used but decent wet tyres, several of my competitors went home for more tyres but a 500 mile round trip for me was not an option, I even scavenged though the used tyres hoping to find a pair that the rich britcar boys had cast aside, but no good.
Ended up with 2 decent tyres on the working side of the car (passenger side for silverstone) an ok tyre on drivers rear & really poor tyre on drivers front.
Race time, swapped places with one of the 4wd drive cars for the first couple of laps in the rain, then started to pull away from him.... then it happened.....somebody sprayed oil on the already greasy really slippy wet track all the way around on the racing line, yes it was the same for everybody but my car was undriveable, could have driven my road car around quicker, lost the lead, could hardly keep it a straight line, then had skyline right on me trying to take my 2nd place when I aquaplaned & went off into the gravel
race 2

I've never been a great fan of roundy roundy racing.
BUT. When you can sit and watch a live race in your armchair on a Sunday. Then get in car footage , and , speak on line with the driver !
It gives a great in sight into a sport , that most do not get.

Great footage as always Andy. The in car view really shows how much of a struggle you had , which was clear from th TV footage.
Given the turn out with tyres etc , you made more than a gallant effort.
Well done. Thanks for sharing it with us , and best of luck for the future.
