2006 Hemi Charger Police Interceptor

Post by Gas for GOSH »

Had to get some capital out of the SRT8 so that's gone to Scotland. So this is my way of having a cheaper Mopar......thanks to David Madders for bringing it over and doing everything to get it road legal over here. I got my old 68 Charger off Dave 10 years ago so it's great to find the same great service and help with this Charger a decade on.

It's an ex-Marin County Police Interceptor. Put over a 1,000 miles on it already.....obviously not got the take off the SRT8 had but certainly no slouch, fun to drive and being a 4 door much better visibility towards the offside rear. Still has the autostick function the SRT8 had....semi-automatic shift so I can just leave it in drive or manually shift it (useful for engine braking on Cornish hills :thumbright: ). 5.7 litre engine seems to be the same as Chrysler 300 so that makes consummables easier to get hold of, windscreen the same as the 300 too according to the autoglass guy who came to sort my Outlander out.

So still in the land of Mopar and loving it :D

Few more shots of the outside and inside.........my daughter reckons this black and white gets more double takes than the Mustang or Challenger did! I wouldn't know I'm too busy driving. Stuck the club number on the roof and found my old 68 Charger sail panel script so stuck that in the inside to brighten up the all grey. It's nice to have something of the old girl in this one.....and this is an R/T equipped car in terms of suspension, gearing, sway bars etc

Love some of the Police things.....the spotlights are awesome, have a look at the photo under the arch! The rubber wipe clean flooring instead of carpet makes maintenance easy.......wonder what fluids have been cleaned off that (second thoughts best not go there  !).

There are a number of slots and holes where some of the things have been taken off.....might reinstall the cage for the school run!

Reckon the holes in the passenger seat were caused by sidearm one side and nightstick the other.......or it was regularly driven by a 25 donut a night patrolman

And in answer to your graphics question Gary.....you know i like a bit of personalisation!! I'm also a massive blues brothers fan.....yeah I know this isn't a '73 Dodge Monaco, but it's the modern equivalent and the ideal thing to take my musical lot too. We only play at parties for fun but the name Black'n'White'n'Blues now suits us.

For anyone who met my lad Josh when we first came to Nats ten years ago he's now the lanky youth at the front of the car by the drumsticks (just passed his grade 8 :) . He still does the Junior Page for the mag when I prompt him (ie threaten to remove League of Legends).

Plans now are just use and enjoy as a daily driver 50/50 with my boring car.......so the Charger does the school run 3 times a week, nips on down to the farmshop, transports musicians etc I also mocked up a Tremethick brewery 'sheriffs logo': my friend is starting a micro brewery so instead of running moonshine I might be running legitimate (and very nice tasting) ale! Don't think Rosco's badge was held on by fridge magnets though....

That's it expenditure wise. Unless repairs dictate the next thing I might consider are decent black and white seat covers. It is so stealth quiet if the exhaust ever gives out I might consider a Mopar performance one but that's hopefully a long way off. All being well will be at Santa Pod for the Nats, but this year only Saturday/Sunday, so the annual trip down the strip will be occurring.

Chauffered at a wedding on Saturday, asked by a friend, not looking to do it for hire.

Changed the usual 'To Protect and Serve' to 'Protect and Honour' because that's what they said in their wedding vows.

Having just been joined in matrimony I thought it fitting that, being in the back seat of a former Police car, they should be joined in handcuffs too (albeit red furry ones)! Drove off to Everybody Needs Somebody to Love to be inkeeping with the Blues Brothers theme. 8-)

Good fun and amazing weather.
