My original tail lights had been modified by cutting a couple of the red lenses out and gluing Amber lenses in their place. Although it was a reasonable idea which worked, I wanted to try to get back to the all red lights its supposed to have.
I found a pair decent lenses in the States and luckily they survived the journey across the pond. Now I just had to get an Amber light to shine through them :-k

Tried Amber led...nope, tried green led...worked but too dim, eventually I managed to get hold of a couple of green incandescent bulbs...these work with a definite difference in colour I think to the stop/tails :thumbright:

Fantastic work as usual Dave, I would try your rear light clusters in direct sunlight. Mine bulb change looked great in a dark garage but were poor in direct sunlight.

cheers

Originally I had planned on painting the bumpers the body colour but the replacement rear I collected from the Nats last year is too decent a condition to scuff up and paint. So I've had a change of plan and decided to stick with chrome...just the issue of what was under the paint on the front bumper :-k
So this week I had a try at salvaging the front. Scrapped remains of the yellow paint off, knocked a couple of dents out, treated with rust converter inside then painted gloss black. Then went over the outside with a 320grit finishing/scouring pad followed by 1500grit finishing/scouring pad and AutoSol.
Far from perfect, paper thin in places and a couple of holes in it but I think its quite usable for now.

Another piece of the puzzle ticked off, the bracket that holds the number plate hinge.

Not got anything significant to report on the Charger as such. Cleaned up/painted the Parking light housings and enlarged the hole for the new bulb sockets. Also stripped the wiper motor down for a refurb, bench tested and it works apart from the self park but I'll live with that.
As for the trip North this year...gawd knows guidelines and restrictions change all the time. At the moment I think I can travel :-k BUT I can only go in my brothers garden and there's not much point in that.

Tiny update time,
Used my Christmas bonus to order new fuel tank, sender, straps, bolts, wheel bearings and brake discs from Rockauto.
Stephen has also sprayed the inside and underneath of the shell in black. Also this afternoon I've ordered the body colour which hopefully will be delivered to him early next week, fingers crossed it'll turn out okay :) I'll let you know...

I was hoping to get up North around February half term but we'll have to wait and see what happens. Anyway here's a photo,

A good time to reflect.

I think you have done amazingly well with that car and you should be really proud of your achievements.

Time for a cold one!

Dave your car is looking amazing and has come a long long way, well done and don't worry 2020 was a total shut down for all and the cars mostly stayed sleep.

Great work Dave, but I still had some discs for you😬, that said, might still be cheaper to get that from Rockauto than me post mine up😀

#-o #-o #-o Ooops sorry Miles I'd forgotten you were holding onto those, I did a large Rockauto order direct to my brothers place on the island and added a pair of disc's into it.

Ah well it's the end of the Feb half term week and... I didn't manage to make the trip North, the island was locked down due to a large number of covid cases.
Going try again at Easter all being well and it'll give me time to collect a few more bits.
Stephen sent some photos through last night of the shell in it's guide coat, so here's couple.
