Pretty much use it and abuse it....... have some fun..... however drum brakes and no power assist could get interesting !
Got to fix the handbrake, wipers don't work, headlight covers don't flip..... so other than fix a few little issues then get an MOT there really isn't anything else to do..
Famous last words above
so UPDATE is necessary.......
New handbrake cables fitted and the footbrake mechanism needed a complete overhaul to free it up. Don't reckon it was ever used for a very long time !
Wipers again just needed the linkages freeing up and now they work perfectly.
Headlight covers turned out to be leaky split vacuum hoses at the connection points - cut off about 1" and re-connected them and they work perfectly
New starter motor cured the weak cranking and bad starting issue along with a little tuning of the carb.
Then decided to rebuild the front suspension and steering as the visible play in the whole front end was very bad..... I think it still had the original 1968 ball joints and rubber bushes
So the drum brakes went in favour of a disc brake conversion kit
And in the process the upper control arm mounting brackets on both sides had virtually rusted away and I fabricated new brackets from scratch and welded them in..
And the upper control arms were badly rusted around the ball joint - tried to save them but they were too far gone so had to wait for a new pair to arrive
Sold the old 15" chrome wheels / tyres and fitted new 17" Torque Thrust II's
With a few other projects in the garage this all took a bit of time but finally it went through the MOT on April 21st this year
Sent off the application for a registration number to DVLA and got a positive reply last Friday so just waiting on the plates to arrive now....
Next job is to cut off those awful exhaust tips
