This guy needs help with his challenger

Ok I have been chatting with a guy in Cyprus about some parts. He has taken on a mamouth task with this one, here is a link to his car but you need to be registered to see the pictures so I have added some on here too

Well i need quite a bit of parts:


- center console for 1970 SE automatic
- overhead console
- dashboard frame for non AC
- steering wheel
- slap stick for 3 gear auto with the linkage
- Blue headliner
- Blue dashboard non AC 1 speaker
- Door cards with the left one for remote mirror
- Mirrors (remote on the left)
- etc etc


So basically, whatever you can get your hands on, I most probably need it

Did they make RHD versions? I would have thought the Aussie market too small for that?

This is a very interesting car ,I saw this on the cc board here in the states, and man I dont think I would tackle this here in the states, let alone in Cyprus,wow he has a tall task, they attempted to make a convertible out of it, and they also changed it in to RHD, with a custom dash cap, and aside from the rust, the thing unfortunately is kind of been cut up.

that being said I wish him all the luck,and maybe with some help he can atleast get it back on the road, and do a rolling resto, as he acquires parts.

AFAIK the only rhd cars other than the Aussie Valiant variants were some '68/9 barracudas & I vaguely remember seeing an E body barracuda that had been converted back in the '80s. Good luck with this one.

various states in Australia during the 70s 80s and 90s would only allow LHD vehicles on the road in public ownership if they had a big sign on them warning everyone of the MASSIVE danger posed by the idiot sitting on the wrong side of his car.

hence many LHD cars especially those made by manufacturers that had a car already RHD in the Australian market got converted so you could get insurance and drive them on a normal plate with no signage

some were competent conversions using RHD rack or steering box and a cut n shut of a local dash

others were the big cogs and chains death trap type conversions.

if it came from Oz its probably a decent conversion using Valiant parts.


other RHD markets

SA had RHD DART based Charger and Valiant models and barracudas until 1971 when VH onwards aussie cars took over


Canada and Oz had RHD C bodies and A Bodies

Canada had a RHD lancer type A body and various PLODGE hybrids
Oz had the dodge Phoenix or Plymouth fury as we know it

Australia and US adopted the Canadian model for RHD
US made RHD barracuda in 67/68

RHD Chrysler went to Fiji Jamaica Singapore Indonesia and Thailand and one of the Guyana's

Hi Wolfman and Cyprus friend.

Anything can be fixed its just time and money.
Lots of Challenger parts are available now too.
Would I want to do a full resto outside of the US of A?
No not again, its just too hard!!!

But don't let me put you off.
I have a lot of mechanical parts from a 318 Challenger.

My advice is, DO THE BODYWORK FIRST!!!
Then see how much money and enthusiasm is left...
