Changing valves with the heads on....

Post by Kev »

Just for Alex and DaveR there is a way to take yer valves out with the heads on;
Remove rocker covers, remove rocker gear, remove pushrods, remove all valve springs as per super tech article by meeself, remove waterpump and fan (if fitted), remove crank pulley, remove timing case, remove timing set, remove sump, remove crank complete with pistons and rods, THERE'S YOUR VALVES! This is probably best done with the engine out of the car, please refer to your service manual for taking the engine out. HTH :twisted:

Nope - does not Work - just tried it - you can only get the Pistons out from the Top, they won't clear the webbing on the bottom end.

Now come and put my engine back together please!!!

10/10 for observation Pete, you have made the other chaps look very unknowledgable about the intricacies of a Mopar mill! :D

Yeah, there is.

Take the spark plugs out and insert a glass funnelinto the spray plug hole and fill each cylinder with about half a pint of concentrated hydrochloric acid.

Go to the pub.

On your return, you'll have full access to the valves from underneath the car. :shock:
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Fantastic Gif Dave! Seat reserved in the 'Cab for the Friday Night Cruise, good buddy!
Ivor, your method sounds good, just make sure the valves don't get tangled up in the piston rings!
