Future Driving.........

Just seen the latest advert for the new corsa, in which it states that the car comes with "parking assist".
This started me thinking, if self drive cars are as close as we're lead to believe and even small cars like the corsa now have the ability to park for you, does this mean that a few years from now, the driving test might be changed.
If all cars have park assist, will the next generation need to learn how to park the car themselves?
Could it lead to other changes / restrictions on future driving. Is it another underhanded way of trying to keep older cars off the road? ( if you don't know how to drive it, why would you need or want it ).
Not wanting to start a whole conspiracy theory thing, just a thought :D

Just another way of selling car I think like Air Con was some years back and they put them in every car.

Imagine buying that Corsa second hand in 5 or 6 years time and the problems with all the sensors.......

no thanks simple cars are best and last.

Can't see the test changing any time soon, I assume any automatic systems can be manually overidden if they fail? I also don't see automatic parking or driverless technology being much use in a commercial situation.

With the advent of cars that drive themselves that'll be well handy ..... just stay at home while the car goes off on its own, no need to go anywhere ..

Or go out drinking, get smashed, sit in the back and let the car take you home :thumbright:

What could possibly go wrong?

They'll be on the scrap heap sharpish.

I suspect the car clubs of the future will be a bit different to ours.

Now THAT sounds like a plan!
Much safer than getting the mrs to drive you home.

Not sure about this self driving car malarkey, I can see the situation where you walk outside only to find the car has decided to bugger off to the seaside for the weekend....

I expect the autonomous AA would bring the fugitive back in event of breakdown.
