68/69/70 charger rear belts

Post by morgan »

When kids were smaller I fitted a lap belt into the standard under-seat bolts so that a child seat could go in charger for the odd shows and things they came to. Now they are bigger I need to look at sorting rear belts properly.

Lap belts easy enough BUT I have a vague recollection of someone (Pete?) saying that you can actually fit 3pt belts in the rear of a charger. There is a mounting bracket up in the roof lining somewhere ?

Did I dream this ? Is there a bracket under the lining in a 2nd gen charger ? I have no problem poking holes in the liner but would like it to be in the right place first.

So Q1 - Did I dream it ? Q2 - Can you describe or draw WHERE exactly ? Pics would be awesome.

I fitted inertias to the rear of a Charger, and have just done the same to a Coronet. A pretty easy fix really.

Ahha ! Cool - didnt dream it. 3pt inertia yes ? (not the lap belts with spool).
So (assuming a man of your experience doesnt take pics as I do!) can you describe where the upper mount is - I am assuming under the lining somewhere ?

Inside the trunk behind the rear seat via the parcel shelf.

You have to drill a hole in the re-enforcing strut and bolt the inertia reel through 2 bits of steel with a support plate for safety.

I did it so the intertias were not visible, but Anton's method probably operates more smoothly.
