Hi all
Has anybody converted their car to a 4 link suspension.
Just considered converting mine after having seen how flat the rear leaves on mine were when loaded up going to the Nats.
I know they can be re-tempered by the like of Brost Forge but just wondered if anybody else had thought about a conversion.
Seems pretty straightforward after having already converted the rear of my 56 F100
My only concern is, are the standard top shock mounts strong enough on a 68 Satellite for coilovers.
Cheers

You usually do that to back half a car.
Bill Reilly has a sort of system as a half way house. The Street Lynx set up:

My personal view is it will kill the value of the car.
Also, my experience with the Coronet on Calvert Split mono-leafs and Caltracs and adjustable shocks means you can run pretty hard with a cheap and flexible system that does not devalue the car.
The Coronet ran 11.02 at 121mph and lifted the front wheels so they do seem to work.
Your call.

4 linking in the Ford Escort world is a good thing to do. But people keep reminding me on here that this is not a Ford forum .
I would imagine it would involve cutting away a lot of the cars shell, if it is good I can see Pete's point on taking away value of the car, it is not exactly easy to go back once you do this.
If the car was rotten then go for it.

In my opinion very good, they have solid front eyes on the springs so very little lateral movement. With the Caltracs they are adjustable for road use so not too hard but when you pre-load them at the track they launch very hard like a ladder bar (which in reality is what they are....)68Runner wrote: ...What are the Calvert springs like on the road????

My Belvedere came with ladder bars and I converted it to 4-link.
It was still a lot of work but it looks and works great.
If you trawl through my (very long) Belve build thread I detailed the whole conversion in there, a lot of the photos are lost now though. Page 1 shows the ladder bar setup I binned. Some 4-link pics on P2 & P29
