Rear Leaf Springs

Post by Powermyster »

Gonna pull the springs off the roadrunner in the coming days to go to a specialist for rearching and maybe adding a leaf.

Is there any special considerations, looks straight forward!

Its basic nuts and bolts but in theory you should change the "U" bolts as they are only supposed to be used once. Sometimes you have to break / cut them off anyway.... people do re-use them though...

Thanks Pete, Just said I'd ask first. Seems hands enough.

Guys will supply new ones for me apparently. Few commercial lads I know used them and swear by them.

Just jack the car up,correctly so the springs aren't holding any weight. I did my Add a Leaf with the springs stil bolted to the front eye bolt and just released the u bolts and rear Spring hanger. G clamps needed to compres springs too.
