classic style wiper blades

Post by Matt »

I remember seeing a thread on this a few weeks ago , but can't find it now.

Anyway, I've just bought some AC Delco ones for my RR and thought I'd pass on the details .

Available from RockAuto in the US , or probably from UK suppliers too . Pic below . Not sure if the 15" ones will be right for you.

thanks

matt

If you still have the clip in type it is possible to keep what you have by refilling the blades. I saw NOS ones on us ebay for 70 notes and thought "hmm... no thanks". The old boy at our local parts shop relines a pair for a tenner!

Yes you can just replace the rubber blade. Unfortunately most of our cars have long since had modern plastic wipers fitted and the original metal blades thrown away which is why the original ones fetch a lot of money.

I know what you mean Pete, I've got a Mk 2 Escort and parts are not cheap. But at least they're in the country so shipping costs are reasonable.

Yes, I can appreciate that. It's been a bit of a shock to the system how deep you seem to have to dig for even basic parts for these old mopars having owned and run MGB's for the last 10 years! They are good fun, though. ;)

You can still pick up the chrome original arms and the rubbers you can buy in kit form from most halfords outlets . If your not to fussed and you don't mind a walk around any breakers you can pick up your arms there. I found a pair of old Rover 2000 arms used to fit my charger .

NEC classic or any of the auto jumbles usually turn some up

I have some that extend as well and you wouldn't notice any difference from the originals

there appears to have been some standardisation......weird
