Yep, a BMC clutch cover with some strengthening plates welded around the bolt holes.
He made his own flywheel and slipper clutch from billet.
Yep, manual shift!

What are you going to use for a back axle? I think it was all van stuff back then.

A lot used Austin Westminster axles .
Modern day equivalent I've heard shortened is LDV 400 van axles.

Looks like a ton of work to make this fit a dragster!

Yea I could see that getting expensive! Might be a lot less grief in the long run to use a 9" ford or something popular that someone can narrow cheaply and you can get performance parts for, especially as you'll be sitting on top of it. It would probably be easier and cheaper to find a used dragster axle in the States and bring that in than build something from scratch here.

Thinking about it, maybe I'd go for tried and tested Ford 9".
Don't want LDVs finest blowing up between your legs!! :pale:

Based on the fact it'll be very light a 9" or even an 8.75" I reckon will do the trick.

There's loads of great info in this article. It seems it takes a lot of work for them to handle serious power!
Imagine, they used to pick one up for pennies from a junkyard, bolt on a blower and race till it blew up. Then just go buy another :D
