Stunning car.
Regards value. You have to think about replacement value, and that is currently what you have just paid for it.

"Market value" is surely what someone is prepared to pay for something and therefore you have just proved what the market value is, because you have bought it at whatever price. (I havent seen the advert so don't know).

Just because a few cars are priced at what may be regarded as too much, if someone is happy to pay that for the right car then surely that is what it is worth, no less.
It will cost as much to replace it with an equivalent.
It would probably cost more to build another to the same standard.

These cars are now a potential investment, as well as fun and something you can use.

As my neighbour with his £70K Allard says, "you can't drive an ISA".
He's also now got a 1935 Thrupp & Maberley bodied Bentley, which he kindly used for daughter's prom last week.

Cheers for all the welcomes and the advice on the insurance! I've spoken to Brentacre and they have agreed to insure the charger at the price I paid for it, pending proof of purchase and photos :D big relief...

Market value for '68 chargers is a very hard thing to pin down at the moment IMO. Somewhere between 50 and 100k for a car like this depending on who's selling it and who's in the market for one at any particular time. Also if you want a Charger this pristine there isn't much else to choose from so you have to pay what it takes to get it if you really want it, regardless of what it might "really" be worth.
