Looks good, I went the "Superstock" Spring route with the 'Cuda but have not fitted them yet.... maybe before Brooklands... or not...
So you're doing the same? Looking forward to seeing it.

I'm hoping someone can help please. My car seems to be running rich at the moment. When driving it seems like the choke is stuck open. I thought it was a sticking accelerator cable but it seems to be returning. There is a red film around the front jets. It's been backfiring occasionally too. Do you think the needles are stuck open?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Have you tried undoing the hex head caps on the top and just checking that the metering rods aren't stuck. If you release the caps a fraction and they push up on their own under spring pressure then they are free. If they don't then they are stuck and they could be stuck in the WOT position.

I took mine out and gave them a very gentle clean before I realised that it was my auto choke that was causing the issue. I disconnected it and haven't had an issue since.

I also use a vac gauge to set the idle mix, and don't rely on the ' one and a half turns out ' setting alone.

Worth trying these things as they don't take long to do.

Cheers Steve

Forgot to say, I strongly recommend just disconnecting the auto choke. You don't need it and it can cause issues Iike this. My car will start in the winter without the choke and runs spot on after just a few seconds of feathering the throttle

Cheers Steve

Thanks for the information, I'll check the metering rods as you say.
And good idea about the auto choke, I'll disconnect it.

Hope you get sorted Mark. The choke disconnect may solve everything so maybe worth a try first?

Sorry about another post on this Mark but was thinking about this earlier. Might be a daft question but are you happy with the timing? If not, might be worth advancing it a bit as our cars tend to want / need more initial timing than the original factory settings. I played around with mine quite a bit until I got it to where my car was happy and the result was a fair bit more advance than it was set to when I bought her and the factory manual suggests

So ditched the troublesome Edelbrock and fitted a Holly. The performance is better. Also fitted a new PerTronix, new distributor and new spark plugs. Seems to be running better.

Came up with a mopar sticker for my 340. They never came with anything from the factory. I understand the 340 should have been called an R/T when it left the factory (as per the 340 Cuda) but the R/T brochures had already been printed.

There's been an electrical problem with my car for a year or two. I took it to a garage and they fitted a new alternator, but that made things worst. A second garage fitted a new distributor, spark plugs and petronix hoping that would work, but that didn't sort it, nor did a new voltage regulator or 2 new batteries. Take it to a third garage, turns out the first garage that fitted the alternator 2 years ago put the wires on the wrong way around, so the battery hasn't been charging and the electrics have been cutting out. A load of time and money down the drain :banghead:

Finally the car is running as it should.
