NEC Classic Motor Show - Friday pics

Another great up at the NEC yesterday. Took up the offer to save £7 on car parking by parking at the airport and it was no more effort than the usual frustration involved in parking 2 miles away in the NEC car parks, so I expect we'll do the same again next year if available.
We headed straight for the MMA stand and were immediately greeted by Jock... sorry, Steve ;) , all on his lonesome. Plenty of interest in the cars tho, while we there, mostly as you'd expect for Will's Charger. Nice selection as usual 8-)

Speaking to one of the Mustang guys we know on their stand, opposite the MMA stand, we got chatting about carpets. As you do... :?
Turns out Andy (Philips? - Roy Slowhand can confirm the surname) is a carpet fitter and supplied and fitted their 100 sq m carpet for £400 (didn't charge for labour and that's the cheapest carpet you can get) the and said he'd happily do the same for us next time if needed. Worth bearing in mind. The stands look so much better with carpet than the patchy dark grey bare floor finish...

Then on to the Classic American stand, hoping to see Gavin's T/A Challenger... which I suspected wouldn't be there as it wasn't included in the advert in the show guide. Wasnt aware why tho till we spoke to Ben at Classic American - i'll let Gavin explain if he comes on here :? Anyhoo, Chrysler was well represented with Geoff Mitchell's '65 Chrysler 300L and John Miller's '55 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer. We've known Geoff for many years and by the time we'd chatted with Geoff and his wife and Ben from CA, we'd already spent 1/3 of the day at only 3 stands and still had 4 other halls to look round!

Fortunately we weren't in the market for carpet underlay, door seals or obscure tools this year so spent the rest of the time, till closing at 6.30 looking at the other car club and dealer stands. And peering over the picket fence at the cars in the Silverstone Auctions area. Another familiar face we spent some time with was the infamous Mal Bird (Budgie), once of this parish, who had his car dealer hat on - not literally tho.

I've slimmed down the 330 pics i took to a more manageable 250, so bear with me... :hiding:

Stunning pics.... thank you for sharing them... top quality.

Just landed home from what was an amazing weekend. Thank you to ( in no particular order) Robert, Liz, Gary, Chris, Will, Helen, Matt, Julie, Pete and Heather for all their help and support.

My favourite non MMA cars were the Chrysler town and country wagon, the Chrysler on the CA stand and the red Shelby GT500....dream cars

Cheers Steve

Superb pics as always, I took virtually none as I was planning on relying on yours Rob, I was right to do so!!

We went all day Saturday until the doors were shut, started in Hall1 by the Alfas, missed most of the trade stalls as we didn't need anything specific, and by going through each hall to try and see everything we got to the MMA stand about 4pm which was the first place we actually stopped to chat to anyone for any length of time.

It is a huge show and lots to see, and there is always things you will miss.
We prebooked NEC parking which was £12 instead of £16 so a bit of a saving.

Steve, glad you found the Town & Country, it was stunning, first one I've seen with an appleton spotlight and wood that hasnt faded. Well done to everyone for the club stand and cars. The layout worked well, and Will's car was clearly a draw and had a great spot with lots of space around it.
The carpet idea would be nice, we saw several flooring options over the weekend. Biggest issue is storing and transporting to the event.

My favourites were the Bolwell Nagari, (when have you seen another) the 3 Unipower GT's, the early Skylines and the Green Goddess converted to a car transporter, fitted with a 5.9 Cummins Diesel.

Good weekend, well done all concerned.

Duncan, the FF looks superb, shame you missed the deadline.
