Lower door hinge pin replacement.

Another restoration query.
We’ve all probably replaced the hinges or pins on our cars but when buying a Chrysler pin kit with 2 pins and 4 top hat bushes I’ve only ever used two bushes and one pin to repair the top hinge only.
There are no bushes in the lower hinge and just to replace the pin would be a waste of time as it’s the actual hinge that wears.
So the question is what have you done to rectify this.?
I’ve done a few of these now by simply drilling out the holes and fitting a slightly larger stainless steel pin.worked fine.

I reamed out the inner section of the hinge to the top hat size just tapped in and all good-mine is slightly different being a 71 but same job I assume.

Same here just fitted the top hats and pin.

It's usually the pin and the inner part of the hinge that is worn so that kit is normally sufficient. If the outer part is worn too I'd go with drilling it all out for an oversize pin as well.

Drill the inner out to a tight fit for the top hats . You might have to make a jig for the drill as the inner holes will have ovalled
You might have to clearance the space between the inner and outer hinges to get the rim of the top hat in there.

All the ones I’ve done in the past and and these on the duster are worn on the inner and outer,
So they will get the oversized stainless steel pin.

I'm just doing this on my car now. I read on for b bodies only that the bushings won't last long on the lower hinge and it's best to use an oversized pin.
Has anyone noticed the bushings wearing out quickly?
I noticed the new pin is the same size as the original so I'm thinking of welding the holes up and drilling out to the original size. Any thoughts on this?
I will use the bushings for now just so I can fit the door and align the new quarter panel as I've already drilled the holes for the bushings. I'm interested to see what you guys think.

you can buy oversize bushes to take out the worn hinge pin hole as they go oval

I have these installed already but apparently they don't last long on the lower hinge and looking at them I don't think they will.
I'm going to weld the holes up and redrill them. I don't want the door dropping again in a few years.
