looking at that chassis number, the way its stamped and the position of the SOA , makes me very happy as ive always been a bit suss about what happened to my inner fender
prefectly legit chassis number in the correct place and stamped without a care in the world much like yours
but followed by a dent
when i purchased the car i had a chat with a bloke who had known of the car since the 1990s who said a previous owner had tried to pass it off a a genuine E37 R/T
mine appears to have gone down the production line as an intended E37 with aircon, which would be an SOA from a dealerhsip who didn't read the instrauctions, you can't have that set of options. And i guess the aircon is fitted before the engine hence when the engine didn't fit it became a 2 barrel car and the person who ordered it didn't want it, it ended up as a fleet car stuck in a compound at blacktown west of sydney, in a general pool of stock for NSW dealers
chassis number is VH 6H290439
compliamce plate is RT 2bbl engine number matches
Under dash looking at the chalked on / build sheet detail, it indictes all options car has, Plus E37 (which is in the middle of the list)
chassis number on inner wing appears to have had something after it which has been removed
same wonky stamping, same stamps, same font as yours, in same position, and the position of your SOA is more or less the same position as my dent.
hence good to see a clean stamped chassis number with an SOA after it......
i wonder if mine had an SOA
it also has pop out rear windows and 1/4 vent doors, something else that was not allowed.....! drivers door is a replacement but passenger door appear to be original
i guess i'll never know
sorry for hijack this thread just prompted a trip to the garage to check AGAIN....
PS yours was/ is an H51 aircon car like mine
