if you need any advice, PM or email me. The MMA can provide dating letters if you need it, see the tab in MMA services on the home page.

I've just registered a Cortina that I bought from Finland. The DVLA are taking longer to process applications "due to covid' (yes that old chestnut). It took just over 8 weeks.
The owners club wrote a dating letter for me which they completely ignored.

Consider sending several photographs of the car including the vin number and highlight it's location. I did this to reduce the need for them to send someone to inspect the car and it seemed to do the trick.

Did DVLA request a dating letter or did you do it straight away.
I advise sending what you have and see if they ask for date proof or not.
Did you have a log book from Finland for it or did you just rely on a copy?

The club recommended that I send the dating letter with the application. I sent them the Finnish log book!

Did you send a translation of it? I've heard DVLA like translations if they are not in English.

No. I guess I could have translated it but it was fairly easy to figure out!

Does anyone here know how to get a copy of the nova certificate? I need to get my Cuda registered but I haven't got the nova :?

Oh dear....

Can you approach the Shippers in the hope that they have a copy or record on file?

I never actually saw the NOVA certificate for either of the cars I have imported. Assuming your car was imported by legitimate means, the import tax will have been paid, the NOVA cert will have been issued and the DVLA will have it on record. That was my experience anyway.

Was the nova done when the car was imported? As Blue says if it was done there shouldn't be an issue as it's already on record.

As far as I know, it was done once the car entered the country. I would of thought that the car wouldn't of been released from the docks without the duty being payed?

That’s right, HRMC won’t release a car until duties have been paid.

Agree with the above, HMRC will probably have a record of the NOVA, based on the VIN, so you need to contact HMRC quoting the VIN to ask for a NOVA, which is just emailed these days.

The phone number on my NOVA, received last month was 0300 322 7071

Ring that and give them the VIN, they may be bale to email confirmation of duties paid, which is what a NOVA is basically.
