Thanks guys, been out again today. Really smooth at highway speeds, although the gears/converter seem a bit mismatched pulling from a stop. 318 convertor with a 360 motor may be inducing a little more stall than I’d like, but it’s not stopped me enjoying the car. Just won’t be racing it!
Matt, it was (happily) a misdiagnosis ref the suspected holed cylinder. My mate had recently had such a problem with a 318 block and initially I thought I may have had the same problem. There’s Avery shirt bolt that holds the power steering pump on some cars and any bolt even marginally longer than stock can punch a crack, rupture, hole in the cylinder liner.
Thankfully not the case with mine.
Safety wise, the car needs the disc brakes and anti roll bar for sure or it’ll be in a Cornish ditch if I’m not careful😬.
Now looking to find a Holley carb as I’m not a fan of the stock Edelbrock on the car.

Well, I’ve got the weekend booked off, but whether I can afford a 600 mile round trip in the Coronet is definitely a maybe 😬, might be up in the trusty old T4 camper🙂

Glad to see you are back to enjoying it instead of kicking it. I know the feeling with frustration, but it’s all part of the game, I guess. Will be glad to able to go for a drive again, but stuck waiting for parts, so won’t be this weekend, frustratingly.

Where did you get the carpet set from?

Stu, I know that feeling for sure. Been driving the heck out of mine. Just spent an hour sorting a new silencer underneath using exhaust parts from the corner of the garage😀

Been doing loads of stuff on mine, probably the most trying, but satisfying and eventually easy to do, was adding and subtracting leaves to the rear springs. I initially fitted a very heavy duty pair of Add a leaf/s to the spring set and reduced one stock leaf. That left the car way too high at the back an as Blue and Dunc observed, probably compromised my rear shox. Test diving proved that right and so I stripped it down and added a much lighter (but strong) leaf and now the suspension sits how I like it. The 3 pics should show it as too tall, as it is now and as it was before I changed the leaves around.
Next up is the front sway bar kit which this car desperately needs. Sort of unsafe at any (cornering) speed😬

Nice how the pic of the highest spring setting has the car upside down, as that’s where it was headed in the first fast corner!

I’m really lazy posting updates, but not lazy with the car. Stuff wot I done:
New fuel parts, sender, line, pump, carb
New front anti roll bar
New axle seals, green bearings likely next as they’re on the shelf
Now got both floor pans ready to be welded in
Messed around with wheels
And more
Driven it a lot😎
