Re: NSRA Hot Rod Drags 2021 photos
Great weekend, pretty lucky with the weather really, but left early on Sunday to avoid the worst of it and give me chance to take it easy on the way back.
Spent most of the run down on Friday bordering on overheating after I got stuck at 4 way traffic lights for 20 minutes or so, but managed to get to the pub to meet up with Blue and Dave for a quick drink before causing chaos on a village high street trying to reverse out into traffic in convoy.
Slightly miffed at having parked under a tree that I can only assume had an Eagle perched in it, spent the first few minutes on arrival cleaning an unbelievably big bird Bananarama! off the rear wing and boot before pitching up, Roydon got a good spot and T’other Dave was there too.
Dave got a PB on his first run, Dave didn’t, borrowed Dave’s hat because I forgot mine and was burning my baldy head, then realised I forgot my jeans and it got bloody cold in the evening so borrowed some from Dave. Dave lost his glasses. Drank beer, talked crap, returned to tent to get more beers, returned to ska tent in time to hear thank you very much, goodnight. Oh well.
Saturday spent getting breakfast and buying hats and clothes, got the Blue tune on the car (cheers Blue!) and got burned in the sun. Realised I’d forgotten fuel too, so cheers to Dave for following me down to Tesco to make sure I made it, filled up and returned with much ice for cold beer, got back and Matt had turned up. Many good stories, much beer, off to bar with half the job done and bag full of beer. Dave breaks the parking rules like a boss.
Talked crap, ate pizza (again) Dave threw himself on the floor, someone picked him up, everyone laughed, Dave fetched more beer, good fun was had and new friends met. Bailed at midnight to get some kip.
Up on Sunday for more bacon and coffee, break camp, still no sign of Dave’s glasses. Returned Dave’s jeans full of beer farts. (Sorry Dave)
Car ran like a dream after Blue sorted the timing, really excellent drive back until suddenly died for no apparent reason right at a busy island in Bromsgrove in time to block everything up. Thankfully couple of blokes jumped out to get me to the kerb, 10 minutes later, burst back into life and no one would let me back onto the island.
Ploughed my way into the traffic, ran great all the way back, sandwich, take some bits off the car, Sunday lunch, pint, weekend done.
Dave messages to say he’s found his glasses in his tent bag.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…

I’d be sacked, I forgot to mention the main feature of the weekend.
The Crane Fly invasion…
There were even more crane flys than Daves.

Re: NSRA Hot Rod Drags 2021 photos
yeah had a great weekend
did a bit of track time disruption
1.5 -2 seconds slower than last year...i recon they made it longer
i wasn't the slowest saw a blistering 28 second quarter from a ford pop later in the day. think it had wooden wheels
learned many things
only got told off by security once.....
but
1) you can't spring from your seat like a 21 year old when ya 49 trying tends to involves lying on the floor looking bewilderd " Now did i fall over or did I "Have a bit of a Fall" Picked up by dave i was, and dave that is graham
i recon it had something to do with sherpering 20kgs of setlla back to the bar from the top field at a slow jog.... SAS traning that is...
2) bottom of the tent bag is NOT, repeat NOT, a safe place, why i chose to carfully put my glases there, and why i forgot i had done this as soon as i'd done it i don't know...Age again....... only after you have crushed everything back in do you find the glasses...luckily undamaged
aarrrrgh its all down hill from here
if only the track was
too many daves in the hand gather no moss or something
PS parked behind the sign...Not in front...i think you will note... polite and sensible use of space

Re: NSRA Hot Rod Drags 2021 photos
I also learned that they have a 31 second limit on the timer, so if like the Hillman Minx Estate that we saw run on Sunday, you take longer than 31 secs, you don't get a time. It did show the terminal speed tho... 49mphDave999 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 21 9:52 am yeah had a great weekend

I didn’t realise you’d jogged back.
No one complained about the parking, so reckon it was ok.
