Axle rebuild

Can anyone recommend someone in the north east, who rebuilds rear axles?
I have an 8 3/4 axle that has developed pinion bearing noise,so rather than buy all the stuff to rebuild the axle, including the tools,i thought i would see how much it would cost to get a pro to rebuild it.
Im in Sunderland.

You could send a 'pm' to Andy Robinson who used to frequent these parts.
username = 'andyrob'
he based in Cramlington, Northumberland. Runs A Robinson Autocentre.
which is presume is up North.
:drwho:
He should be able to recommend someone.

Failing that there's Duncan Watts who might be able to help ('cannonball' on here) but he's down south in Crewe.

good luck.
Stuart.

Andy Robinson uses "Hauser Race Cars" which is based in Northamptonshire (Finedon).

He is pretty much the "Go to" guy for axles, and people ship their parts to him if they do not live locally.

Thanks fellas,i used Hauser racing the other week,on Petes advice, top notch service.
But i have found a local company called Team valley transmissions,i have to take the pumpkin in to them and he's going to inspect it.I'll report back, whether they are a good or bad company,in case anyone up here needs to find local repair places.

Well I finally got round to taking the pumpkin out,and LSD looks wrecked, like it's slipped round in its case.
How this has happened is a mystery cos it has a 318 in it,but then again the boot lid is covered in racing and parts stickers from the 80s and 90s.
It will be on its way to Hauser next week to see what the damage is.
Knowing my luck, every component will need replacing. :P

pinion bearings

bits been moving about

crush sleeve crushed too far (if it uses one) or not shimmed properly or the yoke nut came loose or somone did a seal swap but didn't pay due care and attention to do the nut up properly.

if teeth not all chipped in the contact areas of ring gear and pinion you might be ok.... might need new pinon beraings (crush sleeve or shims and a set up)

i'm no expert but what i see is pinion tooth marks on your centre. when drive applied pinion head has dipped down or riden up, and ground into the bit you can see.

Also can't understand how the hole in the cntre for the cross pin seems misaligned but i have never had one like that in bits..... that bit might be normal, but just a bit damaged by the pinion, a movable part to keep the pin in place...?? on my spicer axle the cross shafts are dowelled into th case hemisphere, not sure about yours, i'm sure geoff or anyone with this diff will know.
