Brake Pipe Flaring

Post by Steve »

Hope someone can help please

I'm going to be making some replacement rear brake pipes for my pals 66 Fury. Does anyone know what sequence I need to use with this machine to get the correct double flare? I will be using 3/16" pipe. I'm guessing its OP1 3/16 followed by OP2 3/16 but would be nice to have a bit of reassurance from someone who has made them recently if possible. I can do some tests and match it to the originals but any advice would be gratefully accepted!

Yes, Op 1 & Op 2

Don’t forget to fit tube nuts before flaring 😋

Enjoy, it is quite a satisfying job, especially with a decent tool like that one, mine is a cheaper version but still works.

And yes, put the nuts on first, I've cut off many a perfect flare to fit the nut!

I've got that T shirt Matt!

I made some for my Polara a few years ago but, as I've had a sleep since then, I forgot what I did to make the correct flares. I changed my old Fury from a single circuit to a dual circuit system and thoroughly enjoyed doing that. Pretty satisfying to see nice new pipes in place
