Ok, first one of the day. I have bought a vacuum gauge, never used one before. Advice seems to vary…

I’m simple terms, where do I plug the Bananarama! thing to the carb. :D :lol:

You want to read manifold vacuum, so direct to the manifold itself or any port on the carb that is below the throttle blades. The small one at the front and the large one at the side will be. My carb doesn't have either of those ports so I have an adaptor screwed into the intake manifold to connect my PCV and vacuum gauge to.

So does that mean I can utilise one of these and put a fixing in there with a rubber cap on, for future use?

In the meantime, can I just unplug the front hose and read from there then? I’d assumed it should be done from a spare port, rather than unplugging anything.

Pretty sure those are both mounting bosses for something, they won't be drilled right through. My Torker intake had a plug at the rear below the carb, that's what I used but you'll need a pipe fitting which I might have a spare of.

Yes, was just consulting Dr Google and think they are blind. I have the attached suspicious looking hole at the rear, though?

Those 2 bosses are to mount the coil, no need for bolts in them. The port you want is in the top right corner of the photo.

Aha! Sneaky little bugger, hiding back there. Yes, I can see it now. Thanks for that, Blue. I’ll put an adapter in there long term, just trying to put the back end back together and will have a go at the fuel mixture. So I’m unplugging the front hose at the base of the carb for now?

Stripped the lights and bumper, don’t like the look of this at all. I knew the rear was a bit wonky, but looks like the valance and light surround are both bent, not the valance has been bolted in properly anyway. :roll: looks like it was only bolted at the corners and the rest left hanging, presumably because it didn’t fit properly as the back end is bent.

Currently scratching chin and wondering how best to attack this… :-k

Can’t tell from the photos what’s out of whack. You know the back of the boot lid is straight so perhaps you can work from that to work out what needs manipulating. Are there any creases in the boot floor?

In the meantime, I’ve turned my attentions to the rear lights. The lenses have cleaned up great, just got to get the grot off the rest of the bits.

Still desperate to get rid of the ‘orrible dangling indicators, so playing with ideas for the LED panels. The obvious and very suitable place seems to be the flat panel between the two light sections, so am currently contemplating being sac religious and cutting the flat panel behind it to accommodate the LEDs. :drwho:

Everything is out of whack! Boot floor is patchwork, so hard to tell. Valance definitely out and think light panel (?) out too. The panel that sticks out and is welded to the light panel looks like it’s been welded on the cock to be honest. :roll:

before cutting the light, i'd sit the led panel in behind one of the rear lamp bulbs and try it for efficiency. it'll probably be plenty bright enough to be seen. if the brake light is in that spot too (both bulbs each side work as stop/tail) disable that brake light. effectively that side of each light unit will now be tail/indicator and the other stop/tail. if it's good then attach the led panel in place with panel glue/double sided tape etc.

It’s a thought, but I want to keep the brake lights working as the should. I know it’s not good form to cut original parts up, but that little flat section lends itself perfectly to an indicator! (Only mocked up, hence wonky.)
