Fix the leaks, rear core plug is shot away for a start and sump needs replacing. Replacing the leccy fuel pump for a mechanical. Alternator upgrade. Fuel lines. Re-routing wiring under the fenders, lights upgrade and a trans upgrade. Decided to pull it all anyway as I’m planning to have the bay painted whilst I’m at it. The front has come off so I can refresh and paint the grille and sort the battered mouldings out. New bumpers and that’s about it, I reckon!

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger
you will get full set of core plugs and do them all won't you? even if they look ok, they rust from the inside out. they're so easy to do while the engine's out it would be daft not to.
neil.

Not much…
Only meant to go 90 degrees, slipped and that was that.
Too cold and tired to do anymore with it for today.

Are you going to check the bottom end while you are at it, or are you worried about finding something that needs attention, so its "Out of sight, out of mind.."???

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger
Swapping the sump and gasket when I’ve painted it, so will have a cursory look then, between my fingers.
Righted it for today, realised I’m short of some tools and bits, so putting a bag over it and going to Machine Mart for a warm instead.
Tune in tomorrow for more from Billy Smarts Rebuild Big Top…

Yep, that’ll be daylight through there, then!
Some serious chunky, rusty sludge in the water channel once I’d removed the plug.

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger
Of all the things to get stuck on today, the simple task of separating the intake manifold from the motor has run me out of time. couldn’t even separate it with the hoist, just lifted the whole lot and the stand. Sure I must be missing something.

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger
On the assumption that you do actually have all the bolts out (count them) then it is purely the stiction of the sealant twixt Manifold and heads.
On the Challenger, I have lifted up the whole car on a hoist using a strop on the manifold (not a lifting plate) trying to get the Manifold separated from the Heads. Yes, all the bolts WERE out!
All you can do is work around the sealant with a sharp knife and keep trying to separate the manifold.
