70 RR six pack upgrade

Post by Hemimad »

I’ve just about assembled all the parts for the conversion, only things left to get are the bolts for the carbs to the manifold.

I’ve got one aspect that I’d like opinions on, choke or no choke?

The vac choke pull off, linkage rod, flap and thermo shut off is missing in action so it will mean putting a shopping list in to get the parts if it is deemed necessary. My current 4bbl 750 has the choke disabled and has no issues.

FYI I don’t have an idle solenoid either….

I did not have a choke on my Super Bee 6 Pak, but it had a mechanical linkage and triple pumpers, so it was easy to start and keep primed until it warmed up.

The Solenoid is an anti-run on feature, and the system will work without one - just not look as authentic.

Ignition timing is critical as is Power valve selection.

In reality the 6 Pak inlet is not very good as it does not function well through the rev range. Fuel tends to puddle in the inlet on tick over. Flat out they are very cool.

Lots of fettling required.... trial and error to suit your engine combination.

Are the outboards adjustable for idle mixture - unlike Jenson copies??
