Need some new HT leads. Just wondering what people are using?

Purchased most of a kit and made my own, needs must when the nearest set was 14,000 miles away and mr FEDEX wants paying

you can buy lead from the very old style copper an cloth insulation to the latest sprial wound silicone jelly cored stuff i, 5 7 8 and 10 mmm

if you buy the correct ends and some spikes its an evenings work
one of the plastic crimpers to use in your vice pays dividends

i got some lead from ebay and the rest of the bits from the link above
the sparkrite crimper is good

buy two bags of brass sprikes
push spike down side of cable core between the silicon and the conductor
bend it across the end of the cut cable and down the outside of insulation
then when you crimp on the connector capture that bent back end..... makes a cable that is more robust than standard
most just have the ends crimped on with the core exposed. the spike makes a definite physical link with every type of crimp terminal regardless of design

the ony time you will have deifficulty is if you need an odd angle on the end.... i don't have an exhaust header problem, my spark plugs are on the other side....

you can also buy rolls of the heat shield tube on ebay

i think real steal would have made a set up with taylor wire and connectors for me but they probably have a sprkrite crimper...

Another vote for Taylors from me too!

I brought a ready made Accel set for mine and have a problem with two leads .they supply two 30 degree boots and 6 ninety degree but i will need a few more thirtys to make it work with my headers .... Straight ones would have proberly worked better ...problem status ONGOING

We always make them up as required with the correct Crimping tool to avoid such problems, probably more cost and time; but it is a better and neater end result with no burned leads...

Went with Accel Super Stock in the end.

They work fine and yellow Accell leads were a 70s favourite.

Interesting on the Taylor’s. Been looking at those- they do a 45degboot - I have a mix of 90 and straight currently with a couple of heat socks to try and negate touching issues
