Well, all being well the car should be back with me sometime in June (but didnt I say that last year....)
Anyway, one of the things that needs doing is a exhaust system, already have a set of manifolds (though they need a bit of work to fit) which leaves me with the main system to build.
Looking at a side exit - just in front of the main wheels (styled like most of the CCSE cars...) just wondered if anyone has attempted anything similar and has any hints tips, especially on tubing suppliers and silencers (looking for something 'cheap', not restrictive but sensibly quiet - the last 2 contradicting themselves!!)
Looks like from here on in its all going to be my own work 8)
Cheers
Iain
Exhausts - anyone built their own??

Well, until I have the resources to take up Mister Wilson on one of the superb complete TTI systems, I'm building my own!
In fact I've been around to a few specialist companies around here to see what they do and I'm hoping to fire up the milling machine to make the components of a hydraulic tube bender...it will only be able to bend 3" tube, no other sizes.
The bends won't be as smooth as mandrel bent tubes, but they should be plenty good enough for the street and I plan to take my exhausts over the axle and out the back!
If it works I'll post the results, but a side exit exist should be a doddle and you are only down the road, so I could work out a resonabvle hire charge!

Many times, places like Demon tweeks stock a verity of bends and you just weld 'em up, that's how most big bore systems have to be made. Just plan it out carefully, measure twice cut once. Hang the mufflers first choosing a position that gives the most ground clearance and tack everything up first before you finish weld anything. Keep it all as close to the floorpan as you can to prevent the whole lot dragging on the ground when you let it down off the jack to admire your handiwork..... Oh, and if you can beg the use of a ramp to do it on it is almost easy!
