Hi, I used Premier Plating Ltd in High Wycombe. They did a fantastic job with the front bumper on the General, including zinc plating all the brackets. They also did the rear corner trim pieces, again a fantastic job.
One thing to note though, with the bumper, the price was practically the same as if I'd of ordered a new one from the states, so if repro bumpers are available might be worth just getting one of those. There's no real difference in time, it just depends how keen you are on originality!
Here's the details anyway.

(with my Dave Robson hat on.....)
if you let us know which area you're in it would be easier to make useful recommendations
unless you're prepared to travel the length and breadth of the country
But if you're down Essex way, Hockley Enterprises in Southend do a good job
But that company in Arlesey, Beds are so cheap (from what I've heard), it may even be worth sending or driving your bumper there as the cost of getting it there will be more than offset by the saving in the work they do.
Just a thought.....

They did the bumpers on our Sport Satellite (inc some repair work) in around 1990/91 and it still looks good.
I dont remember them taking toooo long but do remember that they did a lot of M.O.D. work (& I dont mean scooters
) that takes priority, so you could be in for a long wait if they get busy with the war effort

Hockley are good for the price, but not one of the best for quality for a couple of reasons.
1: their tank is not very big so any long bumpers , they can only chrome half at a time, so there is a sort of feint tide mark where the overlap is.
2: their prep is not the best, if you look at the reflections in the chrome sometimes they are very wobbly, like they put loads of concave shapes in the metal with their abrasives. probably less of a problem if your bumper is not rusty to start with.
that said, they are a quarter of the price of some chromers so, you could afford to get your bumper rechromed four times over say 25 years , for the price of getting it done once at say, London Chroming, who i have heard are one of the best.
