There are a lot of H&S and or enviromental issues with plating of different kinds so it could be that certain types of plating can only be done in certain countries. I don't know about plastic chroming though because that is actually a type a aluminium anodising or spraying?

I know a mate of mine had to sent some trim parts to Spain to be done. Non-steel stuff. Not sure if any were plastic or not.

There are companies in the UK that do plastic chroming, involves an electro-spraying process, that is then laquered.(this is the normal process for plastic trim parts)I don`t know their address but one is in/near London and another in/near Birmingham.
There is another process that can properly chrome plastic that involves copper plating the plastic first and then chrome plating,i have seen this done to a plastic cup from a vending machine.

I came accross this company http://www.vmclimited.co.uk/ in the UK when I was looking into rechroming my plastic armrest bases. I haven't contacted them as I was planning to get a set of repros, but it might be the company aussie pete was thinking of near London. They are in Chertsey, Surrey

Don't take it to heart Jeff, some of us were taking notice of what you were saying!

If I was restoring a dash or whatever, I'd be using the chrome paint, it's great stuff. In fact the paint company I work for developed the "liquid metal" chrome finish that was sprayed on the McLaren F1 cars.
